In 1976, after many years of voluntary help, and with the encouragement of some québec artists, Pâquerette Hudon decided to open an Art Gallery in downtown Chicoutimi. From the start, the art lovers welcome the idea; a warm decor, a friendly ambience, and, above all, a judicious choice of artists known throughout the region and the province of Québec. It did not take long for La Corniche to be recognised for the quality and the variety of the works displayed. It came " the " art gallery to visit.
After twenty-five years and more than a hundred and seventy five exhibitions, and in collaboration with museums, exhibition centres and editors, La Corniche has won an enviable reputation throughout the province of Québec.
To introduce young promising artists from the Saguenay region and from Québec is still our most ardent desire; that, and to keep on offering to our faithful clients the best works from famous artists, and from the ones who are about to become famous. In 1998, and although you can still feel her spirit on the premises, Pâquerette Hudon handed on the torch to her daughter Chantale, her associate since 1980.
