Narcisse Poirier

Born in 1883, Narcisse Poirier is a native of Quebec. Early in life Poirier has a taste for painting. He enrolled at the Monument National in Montreal and he went to Paris to perfect. For 25 years, Narcisse Poirier exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts Montreal. Where he obtained the first prize for his painting sugaring in 1932. He wants to be close to the nature of Quebec without falling into or photographic impressionism. He only painted reality:

“ive always worked from nature while poetry with nature … I did not want myself to photography, or make Impressionism. I always had the desire to perpetuate the Quebec once in my paintings. ”
